The Monad
The Divine Spark in Everything
Theosophy
has introduced the term Monad to describe an indivisible life entity. Monads
are eternal unitary and individual life and consciousness centers.
As a
human you have your own human Monad and every atom in your body has its own
Monad. This is the same for animals and plants. Atoms in mineral substances
also have their own Monad as does the Earth.
Each
Monad must have a vehicle through which it can express itself such as an atom,
an animal or a Human Being. The way in which it can express itself is governed
by its position on the evolutionary scale. The Monad in an atom is much lower
down the evolutionary scale than that of an animal or Human Being and the
respective Monads express themselves accordingly.
In
terms of Man’s constitution the Monad is the combination of the two highest
Principles:-
The
Atma – The piece of the divine in everything often called the Divine Spark.
Buddhi
– The vehicle for expression of the Divine Spark linking Man to the Divine.
Each
Monad is driven by a spiritual urge to express itself and this is the driving
force behind evolution.
